Ethnographic Center
About museum
The museum's ethnographic center is located in a 19th-century manor on Klimentovskaya Street (now Lunacharsky Street). Here you can get acquainted with the multifaceted and sometimes contradictory culture of the Russian people. Rituals and festivals are revived, traditional crafts are brought to life, and peasant everyday life and oral folk art are studied. In the center's exhibitions visitors learn about the traditional way of life in peasant families, trace ancestors' lives from birth to marriage, and learn about building an izba (traditional log house), children's games, and food. The museum hosts calendar festivals that attract many guests from different cities. The art workshop "Istok" is also located here, where master classes are held in weaving, weaving on a berda, and gold-thread embroidery. All the museum's exhibits are donations from many families who contributed to its collections.
