House of Merchant E. M. Dyakov
About museum
The Department of the Museum of the House of Merchant E. M. Dyakov is housed in a building that is a monument of early 20th-century architecture and urban planning. This mansion was built in 1903 in the eclectic style by first-guild merchant Yevgeny Mikhailovich Dyakov (1895–1917). He was a major grain trader, livestock industrialist, landowner, and a shareholder of the Second Balashov Milling Partnership. On the estate grounds, in addition to the house, there were stables, a garden, and other outbuildings. Since 1995, the department of the municipal institution "Balashov Local History Museum" has been operating in this mansion. Here visitors can learn many interesting stories from the life of the old merchant town, and also obtain information about the mansion's owner, Yevgeny Mikhailovich Dyakov.
