N. M. Zinovyev House-Museum
About museum
In the village of Dyagilevo, located two kilometers from Palekh, there is the memorial museum of Nikolai Mikhailovich Zinovyev, an honored Hero of Socialist Labour, People's Artist of the USSR, and laureate of the RSFSR State Prize named after I. E. Repin. The Zinovyev house, situated almost at the end of the village street on the right-hand side, offers a wonderful view of the fields, streams, lowlands and groves. The Zinovyevs were versatile people: they kept the house, tended the land, garden and apiary, and also made shoes, wove canvas and rag rugs. All the men in the family painted icons, which was the main craft for the residents of Palekh and the surrounding villages. In N. M. Zinovyev's house, everything speaks of the artist family's past, their everyday life and Russian way of life. Here you can find a kitchen with a large Russian stove, the former chamber (gornitsa) that served as dining room, bedroom and living room, as well as a small annex room intended for overwintering bees. The Zinovyev house is always hospitable and attracts many visitors.
