About museum
The M.S. Shchepkin House-Museum is a unique monument of history and architecture, built at the end of the 18th century and having survived the Moscow fire of 1812. The great Russian actor Mikhail Semyonovich Shchepkin lived here during the last four years of his life. Visitors to the museum can see authentic belongings of the house's owner, as well as a reconstructed exhibition that allows them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of Shchepkin's artistic career, which helped shape the development of theatre in the 19th–20th centuries. The museum awakens a love of theatrical art as well as the warmth and coziness of this home.
