An album "Through the Halls of the Museum of Horse Breeding" has been released, published with the support of the charitable foundation "Otchiy Dom" and patron-collector Ekaterina Borodina. The album publishes for the first time a small part of the world’s largest collection of equine-themed artworks from the holdings of the Scientific and Art Museum of Horse Breeding of RGAU-MSHA named after K. A. Timiryazev. This has become an important event in the history of the Museum.
The album presentation was attended by: Marina Ivanovna Selionova, Vice-Rector for Research of RGAU-MSHA named after K. A. Timiryazev; Olga Vladimirovna Krupoderova, Head of the Scientific and Art Museum of Horse Breeding; Vladimir Isakovich Zhukovsky, Director of the Kazan Hippodrome, cavalry colonel, member of the presidium of the "CSKA Sports Veterans Council", formerly head of the Central Moscow Hippodrome; Ekaterina Pavlovna Borodina, patron and collector. They noted that the release of the album opened a new stage in the Museum’s development, and that, with the support of patrons, it is planned to continue a series of publications about the unique artistic collection in the hippological genre.
Head of the Scientific and Art Museum of Horse Breeding Olga Krupoderova: "Today a historic event has occurred for us, and these are by no means pompous words. The publication of the book is a new milestone in the history of our museum. All this happened because one day Ekaterina Pavlovna Borodina came to visit us. She was delighted with our collection, learned that we carry out extensive research. And that we did not and have never had such publications before. This is the first large-scale book about our museum’s collection. It includes over 160 pages and 49 articles."
Patron, collector and philanthropist Ekaterina Borodina: "I am happy that we were able to highlight the work of this unique museum and give people the opportunity to learn, first, about the wonderful items that are here, and second, about the people who preserve these items for future generations. I took part in this also because I saw the sincere interest of all the museum staff. I remember when I came here three years ago to obtain an appraisal of a work by Nikolai Sverchkov, and how deeply impressed I was by all these paintings. For me, the publication of the album is a story of small deeds. I hope that my small deed will enable others to do the same. I myself enjoy polo and know that the feeling when you sit on a horse cannot be compared to anything. A love of horses also has roots in my family history. My ancestors served in the mounted cavalry. My grandfather’s brother reached Berlin and was a friend of Budyonny. Semyon Mikhailovich helped free my grandfather, who had been imprisoned after escaping from captivity. I very much hope that the book will help draw as many people as possible to the world masterpieces and amazing stories kept here."
The album includes texts by equine specialist Y. N. Kuznetsova. The introductory article was written by the museum director O. V. Krupoderova. Museum specialists I. I. Bondarenko and Y. B. Lopatina participated in editing the texts and selecting the bibliography. The reader is offered not only information about the artworks but also extensive research and even discoveries.
The album can be purchased at the Museum of Horse Breeding.
