'Kostenki. 145 Years of Research' — a new exhibition at the Kostenki Museum-Reserve

It is dedicated to the region's rich archaeological heritage. 145 years ago the Russian scientist Ivan Semyonovich Polyakov discovered the first Paleolithic site here. Since then, a large number of archaeological discoveries have been made in Kostenki that have transformed our understanding of life in the Paleolithic.

Here in Kostenki, methodologies were developed that became classics of world archaeology. It is thanks to these methods that today about 70 ancient settlements found in this area are known. The exhibition will immerse visitors in the history of these remarkable discoveries and tell of the archaeologists' hardships and triumphs through unique photographs.

The exhibition is presented in the small exhibition hall of our museum-reserve.

The exhibition will be open to visitors until November 10.
