SHALYAPIN FESTIVAL 2024

On August 10, the traditional 'Shalyapin Festival' will take place in the village of Gagino in the Sergiyevo-Posadsky urban district. This year the Festival is dedicated to the Year of the Family.

The Festival has been held since 2018 and takes place on the grounds of the temple complex of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, where in 1898 the famous Russian bass Fyodor Ivanovich Shalyapin was married to the ballerina Iola Tornagi.


Festival guests can expect a rich concert and educational program.

On stage will perform soloists from the Moscow Operetta Theatre, the Moscow 'New Opera' Theatre named after E. V. Kolobov, the Moscow Musical Theatre 'Helikon-Opera', the People's Ensemble of Russian Song 'Zabava' of the Sergiyevo-Posadsky urban district, and the Bayanists Ensemble of the Moscow Regional Philharmonic 'Russian Timbre'. For the first time in the Festival program, singer-songwriter, poet, composer and TV host of the SPAS channel Alexander Galitsky will take part.

The Festival venues will host interactive activities for children, and there will be a meeting-discussion 'On Traditional Spiritual Values' with the rector of the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Gagino, Sergiyevo-Posadsky deanery, Priest Dionisy Tsvetkov. During the day a fair of folk craftsmen will operate on the Festival grounds, and in the evening there will be a screening of the documentary film 'Rimsky-Korsakov. Flight…' on the 180th anniversary of the composer's birth.

As part of the educational program, visitors will be able to see exhibitions of the Russian National Museum of Music 'Mikhail Glinka. Musical Journeys' and 'The Temple Complex in Gagino and the History of the Wedding of Fyodor Shalyapin and Iola Tornagi', as well as guided tours.

The Festival is held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The organizers of the festival are the Russian National Museum of Music and the Administration of the Sergiyevo-Posadsky urban district of the Moscow Region. Festival partners are the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Moscow Region and the Russian Military-Historical Society.
