By tradition, staff of the Volgograd Regional Botanical Garden prepare a primrose exhibition in February. This year the organizers promise that the exhibition will be the largest in its history. Not only the traditional locations but also additional renovated premises will be used.
The garden staff have specially grown flowers that can be found in spring in the Volga steppes and the region's natural parks: snowdrops, hellebores, lilies of the valley, various species of wild tulips, and others.
Decorative plants will also be presented: primroses, hyacinths, freesias, daffodils, crocuses, violets.
Botanical garden staff will hold themed lectures and explain how to care for primroses at home.
Florists will create themed photo zones and installations.
There will be a sale of flowers and ornamental plants during the exhibition.
The exhibition opens on February 8 at 11:00 and will run until February 16.

Historical note. The botanical garden began during the construction of the Volga Hydroelectric Power Station. In 1950, Fyodor Loginov, head of the construction of the Stalingrad HPP, proposed creating a forest-reclamation enterprise to produce hardy seedlings for the city of Volzhsky. In 1984, on the initiative of Zoya Sapozhnikova, senior agronomist of the Volzhsky Improvement Combine, the state greenhouse farm Flowers of Zavolzhye was established. Currently, the enterprise is part of the Volgograd Regional Botanical Garden.
