Exhibition Pavilion of the Karachay-Cherkess Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve
About museum
In 1916, a small museum institution was established in the stanitsa Batalpashinskaya (now the city of Cherkessk), which later became known as the Karachay-Cherkess Historical, Cultural and Natural Museum-Reserve. The first collections included exhibits gathered by local doctors and government officials, as well as by teachers and students of the Batalpashinskaya gymnasiums. Small school exhibitions presented herbaria, photographs, mineral samples, ancient artifacts and other items. In 1922–1923 the museum was housed in one of the school buildings, which is why it was given a school name. Today the museum features permanent exhibitions where visitors can see household items, jewelry, clothing, musical instruments and old photographs. The art gallery and exhibition pavilion offer visitors exhibitions, guided tours, and scientific-methodological activities.
