The Vyatskie Polyany Historical Museum was established as a people's museum in 1965. In 2007 the museum moved to a new building, where a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of Vyatskie Polyany from ancient times to the present was created. The exhibition consists of four halls featuring items of archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, photographic documents, etc. These objects preserve the city's history: daily life and customs, as well as the fates of the town's notable residents. Temporary exhibitions are regularly held in the museum's exhibition hall. In 2008 the memorial house-museum of G. S. Shpagin became a department of the Vyatskie Polyany Historical Museum. In 2020 the Museum of the History of the 'Molot' Factory became a department of the Vyatskie Polyany Historical Museum.
