About museum

The collection holdings of the Taymyr Local History Museum include more than 90,000 items, including many unique pieces. Over 14 years the museum has been visited by more than 20,000 people. The director is Olga Pavlovna Korneeva, an Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation and of Taymyr. The museum staff conduct research, publishing, and educational activities, and organize more than 30 exhibitions from the collections of major Russian museums. The museum also maintains close contacts with scholars and research centers across Russia. One of the museum's prides is its research library, which is popular among people interested in history, culture, and local lore. There is also a souvenir kiosk in the museum foyer where publications and souvenirs can be purchased. The Taymyr Local History Museum is a recognized scientific and cultural-educational center, developing and activating innovative forms of visitor engagement and remaining attractive to different population groups.
