Yaroslavl Museum of Foreign Art
About museum
The Museum of Foreign Art is located in a two-story mansion on Soviet Square, built in 1816. The building is a striking example of urban residential architecture of early 19th-century classicism. In December 2010 the mansion was transferred to the Yaroslavl Art Museum, and restoration took place from 2011 to 2013. In May 2014 the museum's official opening ceremony was held. The museum's exhibition features works by well-known masters of the 16th-20th centuries from the Netherlands, Italy, France, Germany, and Eastern countries. A distinctive feature of the museum is the East Hall, which houses Japanese prints from the Edo period and household items from the 18th-19th centuries. Thus, the Yaroslavl Museum of Foreign Art offers visitors an incredible opportunity to become acquainted with masterpieces of European and Eastern culture.
