Shakhovskoy Museum invites everyone to visit its exhibitions and learn about the history of Shakhovskaya.\r\nThe history of the Shakhovskoy Museum began in December 1970 with the publication of an open letter by an initiative group in the district newspaper. This prompted the start of designing the museum building and the formation of a responsible group to assemble the museum collections. On April 21, 1980, the museum was opened in the premises of the District House of Culture. Four years later, on May 9, 1984, the museum moved to a new wooden building. On October 8, 2014, a modern museum building was put into operation, which houses about 10,000 inventory items. All items and collections of the museum relate to the history of the Shakhovskaya Urban District and were donated by local residents. The museum's exhibition presents visitors with the chronicle of the native land. Shakhovskoy Museum invites everyone to visit the exhibitions and become acquainted with the history of Shakhovskaya.
