Mikhailovskaya Battery, a fortification built in 1846, is one of the richest museums in Europe. It consists of several exhibition halls dedicated to the Crimean (Eastern) War of 1853–1856, the Civil War, the First World War, the Great Patriotic War (World War II), and a rare exhibit of the battleship 'Novorossiysk'. Visitors can imagine the interior of a mid-19th-century fortification and trace the development of events from the founding of the city to the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
