Konstantin Alekseevich Vasilyev

About museum

Konstantin Alekseevich Vasilyev was a Russian painter, widely known for his works on epic-mythological themes. He was born in Maykop. From 1949 he lived in the village of Vasilievo near Kazan. Vasilyev received his education at the Kazan Art School, worked as an art teacher and as an artist-designer. His work was devoted to the heroic motifs of Slavic mythology, Russian history, and Scandinavian folklore.

Vasilyev's life was tragically cut short in 1976. Recognition for the artist came after his death. In the 1980s and 1990s numerous exhibitions of his works were held in the USSR and abroad. Subsequently, museums dedicated to his work were opened.
