Novotoryal Local History Museum
About museum
On August 27, 1989 the museum was opened on the 65th anniversary of the district's establishment. It operated in the premises of an Orthodox church on a voluntary basis. In 1991 a two-story building of the driving school was allocated, where major repairs were carried out. On May 28, 1993 the museum was opened to visitors. Today the museum has five permanent exhibition halls with various themes. Here you can see stuffed animals, the history of the Novotoryal district, Mari national costumes, and photographs of participants in World War II and the Afghan War. The museum houses over 5,000 items, comprising collections of bells and 19th-century household objects.
