The Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium named after G. M. Grechko is a municipal autonomous cultural institution engaged in education, science and culture related to space research. It was founded in 1948 after the Great Victory. Since 1994 the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium has been the organizational-methodological center of the Association of Planetariums of Russia and the representative office of the International Planetarium Society in Russia. In 2005 the planetarium moved to a new building, and in 2007 a docking simulator for the Soyuz-TMA spacecraft with the International Space Station was installed. In 2016 the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium was named after the celebrated pilot-cosmonaut Georgy Mikhailovich Grechko. Today the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium named after G. M. Grechko is a leading scientific and cultural center of the city. It hosts various events on astrophysics, astronomy and space. In 2021 the planetarium was modernized, which resulted in new equipment for displaying full-dome content.
