About museum

In 2007 the V. M. Bekhterev County Medical Museum was opened in Yelabuga, located in one of the buildings of the zemstvo hospital built in 1881. The exhibition demonstrates the development of healthcare in Yelabuga, as well as the biography and professional work of V. M. Bekhterev and other doctors who worked here. It is the only museum of its kind in Russia. In the interactive visitation hall, visitors can try on a doctor's clothing, measure blood pressure, find out their height and weight, look through a microscope, take part in psychological testing, and sample healing herbal drinks at the herbal bar. Unique medical items and instruments are also on display, including devices for blood analysis and blood sugar level testing.
