On June 19, 2009, a ceremonial opening of the Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center "Karpichenko House" was held in the restored premises of the Plotnikov-Karpichenko family ancestral home. The center's aim is to create opportunities for young people to develop in the field of scientific research. The interior houses a photographic exhibition on the history of G. D. Karpichenko's family and his scientific work. On June 19, 2009, in the square in the courtyard of the ancestral home, where there had previously been a garden, a monument to G. D. Karpichenko, created by sculptor P. I. Gil (Saint Petersburg), was erected. This is the only monument in Russia installed to the scientist in his homeland. On June 25, 2011, a new exhibition, "Memorial Room of the Plotnikov-Karpichenko Family," was opened in the Karpichenko House with the participation of the Velsk Local History Museum. A plaque reading "Karpichenko Street" was placed on the house's facade to mark the renaming of part of Komsomolskaya Street in honor of the distinguished native.
