Museum complex "35th Coastal Battery"
About museum
\r\nArmored turret battery No. 35 took part in the defense of Sevastopol in 1941–1942. In July 1942 tens of thousands of the city's defenders were encircled here, and in May 1944 the final liberation of Crimea and the rout of the occupiers took place here. At the initiative of local residents, a people's museum was organized at the battery, created with non-governmental funds. On July 3, 2008 the museum was opened to visitors. In 2012 the project was completed. On the grounds there are three tour routes, a trench park, parapets with the names of participants in the defense, and a memorial map. A chapel has also been built. Film screenings are held in the administrative building, and the Pantheon of Memory contains the names of 42,000 defenders of Sevastopol. All visits and guided services are free of charge. In 2018 the museum expected its one-millionth visitor. According to the MIMK website, the "35th Coastal Battery" ranks first among Sevastopol museums.
