\r\nMuseum Center 'Heritage of Chukotka' is a merger of the Chukotka Regional Local History Museum and the State Center for the Protection and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, established in 2002. The formation of its collections began as early as 1931. Today they fully reflect the natural, historical, and cultural wealth of the region. In 1935 the first museum in Anadyr was opened in a small house purchased from a long-time resident of the town. To date, the museum's collections comprise more than 40,000 items on various topics. Particularly noteworthy are the ethnographic, archaeological, mineralogical, paleontological, and decorative-applied arts collections. The Museum Center runs various museum programs aimed at studying the nature, history, and culture of Chukotka. All this attracts both esteemed experts and adventurers, as well as discerning and demanding visitors. The Museum Center has become an integral part of the Chukotkan environment and offers interesting and unusual experiences.
