Vladimir Ivanovich Korobkov – a painter, educator, founder of the Art Gallery of the city of Lobnya. He was born on October 27, 1951 in the village of Valetovka, Kursk Oblast. In 1977 he graduated from the Faculty of Fine and Graphic Arts of the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute named after V. I. Lenin.
Korobkov's artistic activity began in 1976. From 1979 he took part in numerous art exhibitions of various levels – from international to solo shows. Over his career Korobkov organized 23 solo exhibitions in Russia and abroad. In his work he used watercolor techniques and worked mainly in the genres of landscape, still life, and portrait.
Korobkov devoted more than two decades to teaching. Under assignment from the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs he worked as an artist-educator in Bulgaria (1983–1987) and in Cuba (1989–1993). From 1998 he held the position of chief artist of the city of Lobnya, headed the city's Art Council, and created its heraldry. In addition, he managed the Lobnya exhibition hall (1996–2004) and founded the city's Art Gallery in 2004. In 1979 Korobkov became a member of the Union of Artists of Russia, and in 2001 a member of the International Association of the Union of Artists of Russia. He was awarded the titles Honored Worker of Culture of the Moscow Region (2002) and Honored Artist of Russia (2014). Vladimir Ivanovich Korobkov passed away on November 9, 2014.
