Museum and Exhibition Center 'Putevoy Palace'
About museum
In the first half of the 19th century, a guidebook from Moscow to St. Petersburg and back said of Solnechnaya Gora: 'The second station from Moscow, with a waystation palace and a proper hotel.' In 1808–1810 the building was rebuilt and became part of the ensemble of the Saint Petersburg Road, planned by Catherine II. Today this building is an architectural ornament of Solnechnogorsk. It houses the Museum and Exhibition Center 'Putevoy Palace', which includes the exhibition 'The World of the Russian Province', five exhibition halls and a music salon. The museum collection contains more than 16,000 items; donations from townspeople continually supplement it. Here one can learn about the history and culture of the town.
