Spiridon Mikhailovich Strelkov – Senior Sergeant of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, participant in the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born on 8 November 1917 in the village of Zura, Igrinsky District of the Udmurt Republic, into a peasant family. After finishing six grades he worked on a collective farm.
In September 1938 he was drafted into the army and served in the Far East. During the Great Patriotic War he was in the active army from February 1944. He fought on the Western, 2nd, 3rd and 1st Belorussian Fronts. He distinguished himself particularly during the Bagration offensive on the territory of Belarus. He was killed on 4 February 1945 in the battle near Frankfurt-on-Oder. He was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
