Museum and Memorial Complex 'Victory' in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk is a new cultural institution established by order of the Government of Sakhalin Oblast. It houses a variety of exhibitions, such as 'Landing on Shumshu', 'Storming of the Khandas police post', and 'The Russo-Japanese War of 1904–1905'. This exhibition is presented as a complex of several sections reflecting the causes of the war, its outbreak, the feats of the cruisers 'Varyag' and 'Novik', the defense of Port Arthur, and other important events. In addition, there are exhibitions 'Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands during World War II', 'Sakhalin on the Home Front', the 'Hall of Remembrance' and the 'Hall of Local Conflicts'. All this gives visitors the opportunity to obtain detailed information about the history of Sakhalin Oblast.
