About museum
In honor of the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the counteroffensive near Moscow, on December 6, 2001 a unique museum was opened at the 37th kilometer of the Dmitrovskoye Highway as a tribute to the Soviet medium tank T-34, which served as an example for the development of subsequent tank models in countries around the world. The exhibition features various state and municipal bodies, organizations, institutions, enterprises and public associations of Moscow and the Moscow Region. The museum shows the process of the tank's creation, its modernization, production during the Great Patriotic War, and also highlights prominent tank designers. The museum also presents the combat history of the tank, tank-hero veterans, their feats in World War II, as well as the vehicle's postwar fate. The exhibition addresses and reveals the topics of the creation of the T-34's 'ancestors', comparative characteristics of medium tanks from different countries and traces the 'lineage' of the T-34 and its modifications.
