V. I. Chapaev Museum
About museum
On May 9, 1974, the V. I. Chapaev Museum — a branch of the Chuvash National Museum — was opened. The building was constructed by a community-led building campaign with the participation of enterprises, institutions and the public of the city of Cheboksary and the Chuvash Republic. In 1986, the Chapaevs' memorial house, where Vasily Ivanovich was born on February 9, 1887, was restored next to the museum. The museum is located in the center of the capital of the Chuvash Republic. The complex includes Chapaev Square, the museum building, the memorial house, a monument to V. I. Chapaev, and a memorial wall with bas-reliefs of famous people. The architects of the buildings were M. Suslov and V. Morozov; the sculptors were P. Bryndin and E. Agoyan.
