Bunker Museum
About museum
The Bunker Museum is located in a former German reinforced-concrete air-raid shelter consisting of two monolithic blocks, built in 1945. It measures 42 meters in length, 15 meters in width and 7 meters in depth, and includes 21 rooms. Systems for communications, water supply, sewage and fresh-air supply were installed here. In March 1945 the German fascist forces under the command of General Otto Lasch moved here. In 1968 the bunker was opened as a museum presenting an exhibition on the assault of the fortress-city of Königsberg in 1945. On that day two groups of Soviet negotiators were sent to the bunker to take part in negotiations on unconditional surrender. The museum has reconstructed two rooms of the German troops' headquarters during the assault on the city. Tours are conducted in Russian and German. Visitors can learn about the dramatic events in the lives of the Soviet negotiators.
