Ob River Museum
About museum
In 2003 a museum complex was opened presenting the heritage of the Salym region. It regularly hosts exhibitions: "Yugra Heritage", "Nature of the Ob River", "History of Shipping on the Ob". The "Nature of the Ob River" exhibition features fossilized remains of the earliest inhabitants of the flora and fauna, as well as a geological collection confirming the inexhaustible wealth of the territory's mineral resources. The "Yugra Heritage" exhibition tells the story of the history and ethnography of the Salym region from ancient times to the present day. The exhibition "Pages from the History of Shipping on the Ob" displays models of vessels from the 17th–20th centuries and original wooden parts of the koch, a Russian sail-and-oar vessel. Visitors can learn about the history of water transport, which played a decisive role in the exploration and development of the northern territories. Here you can see the traditional culture of the indigenous people of our region, as well as small pockets of nature.
