Mikhail Sespel Museum
About museum
On November 25, 2003, the Mikhail Sespel Museum was opened. Mikhail Sespel was a Chuvash poet and the founder of Chuvash literature, as well as a state and public figure of the revolution. It is located in the former house of townsman S. V. Cherkasov on the shore of the Cheboksary Bay in the historic part of the city. The Revolutionary Committee of the Chuvash Autonomous Region transferred the house during the revolution, and it housed a translation-and-publishing commission where Mikhail Sespel worked in the spring of 1921. The museum features a photo panorama of the city of Cheboksary from 1921, through which one can view the old part of the city—now within the flood zone—and compare it with the appearance of Cheboksary in the 21st century.
