About museum
Aleksandrovo-Gay Local History Museum was founded in 1998 at the initiative of honored teachers of Russia and local residents A. I. Demina, V. T. Maslyakova and World War II participant R. G. Ignatieva. It is located in an old two-story brick building of merchant P. Kh. Pozdnyakov, built in 1898. The museum has halls of military glory; ethnic halls of Russian, Kazakh and Tatar culture of the 19th–20th centuries; exhibits on the history of the Civil War; displays on the fauna of the Algai steppes; household utensils; and an exhibition hall. The courtyard hosts the main species of flora typical of the Algai steppe. The museum's collection numbers about 4,000 exhibits, which are replenished annually. The average number of visitors per year reaches 5,000. As part of the national project “Culture,” the museum prepared a travelling exhibition “Development of Saratov Oblast and the District over 80 Years.”
