A. B. Goldenweiser Museum-Apartment
About museum
Editions of works by A. B. Goldenweiser and other authors, personal manuscript scores and compositions preserved by him, musical instruments, household items, photographs, documents, gifts and other objects. On January 6, 1955, the Council of Ministers of the USSR established the museum-apartment of Alexander Borisovich Goldenweiser — an outstanding musician of the first half of the 20th century, pianist, composer, teacher, musical and public figure, People's Artist of the USSR and rector of the Moscow Conservatory. In 1959 the museum received its first visitors, and after A. B. Goldenweiser's death in 1961 his pupil, assistant and wife E. I. Goldenweiser became its director. The museum is divided into two areas — a memorial zone and a chamber music salon. Meetings with A. B. Goldenweiser's students, piano, vocal and instrumental concerts, as well as academic lectures, methodological seminars, consultations and reviews of scholarly works are held here. The exhibition includes the archive of A. B. Goldenweiser.
