About museum
MBUK "Ordzhonikidzevsky District Museum" is the successor to the local history museum of the village of Kopyovo, which opened on April 18, 1993. Andrianova Lidiya Vasilyevna, a history teacher at the Kopyovo rural secondary school, served as the curator and later the director of this museum. The building was constructed in 1909 and has 6 halls. On the museum grounds there is an exhibition-display "Khakass yurt" built in 1870, which represents the summer dwelling of the Tortukov family with a Khakass national interior. Khakass holidays and ritual excursions are held there. In addition, the "Native Khakassia" hall complements the exhibits with mineral resources, palaeoflora, bones of prehistoric animals, archaeological finds, as well as household items, jewelry, clothing of Khakass women (kyzylok), men's clothing, and a shaman costume with a drum and a beater. Of particular importance is the skillful embroidery, whose ornament features depictions of animal horns characteristic only of the Kyzyl ethnic group.
