K. E. Tsiolkovsky Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics

About museum

The city of Kirov is the birthplace of cosmonautics. In the 19th century the family of the famous Russian scientist and founder of cosmonautics K. E. Tsiolkovsky lived here. In 1988, at the initiative of twice Hero of the Soviet Union, Soviet pilot-cosmonaut V. P. Savinykh, the K. E. Tsiolkovsky Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics was opened. In 2018 a Children's Space Center was opened here. Today the museum is a unique multifunctional complex that includes a historic building and a modern space center with exhibition and interactive halls equipped with high-tech equipment and robots. Here you can not only see cosmonaut suits, reentry capsules and satellite models, but also create clouds yourself and experience how a hadron collider works. In one of the center's halls you can take a virtual tour of the ISS and explore its interior. You can join guided tours and take part in entertaining programs, workshops, quests and meetings with cosmonauts.
