P. P. Ershov Museum

In 2006, the Literary Museum of P. P. Ershov, the author of the world-famous fairy tale "The Little Humpbacked Horse", was established in the town of Ishim, Tyumen Oblast. During its existence, museum staff have carried out extensive work studying the poet's life and work, promoting P. P. Ershov's heritage and the history of the Priishimye region. A portrait of the artist N. G. Madzhi was found, three musical settings of Ershov's poems were made public, and a collection of unpublished letters was prepared for publication. The annual awarding of the All-Russian Literary Prize named after P. P. Ershov was held in Ishim. Descendants of the poet were identified and their family tree created. In the village of Ershovo, restoration of the Church of St. Peter the Stylite has begun. An almanac, a children's magazine, and a book by the laureate of the 1st Ershov Prize were published. The museum's activities have repeatedly been recognized with diplomas from regional and interregional competitions and festivals.
