In Russia, the first Hockey Museum was established as part of the Park of Legends sports and entertainment quarter. The opening took place on May 6, 2016, on the day of the Ice Hockey World Championship. The building, an architectural monument designed by architect Konstantin Melnikov, was styled in the Stalinist Empire style. The main objectives of the Museum are preserving hockey history, fostering a sense of patriotism, and encouraging young people to participate in sports.
