Vepsian Culture Museum
About museum
On June 24, 2004, the Museum of Vepsian Culture was opened in the Kuysky Village Council. In 2007 the museum premises were converted into a library, and all exhibits were moved to the village of Bereg. Thanks to extensive collecting work carried out by Zaitseva N. G., Doctor of Philological Sciences, Strogalschikova Z. I., Yashov V. K., and others, the museum became accessible to visitors. It displays antiques and household items used by the Veps, as well as literature and books in the Veps language. The museum is located far from the center and is a 'corner of unspoiled nature' where the Veps language can be heard and one can learn about the culture of this people.
