About museum
In honor of Vasily Fedorovich Sebin, the museum's founder, the "Pitkyaranta City Historical and Local History Museum" was established in 1991. It all began in the 1950s, when the "Club of Red Trackers" was created in Pitkyaranta under the leadership of World War II veteran Vasily Fedorovich Sebin. There were hikes, expeditions, search operations and correspondence with veterans. In 2003 the museum was given his name. The museum building was built in the 1930s for his family by Mr. Frederik Ernst Vallden. Currently the museum has 10 exhibitions, and the total number of collection items is 9,523, of which 5,084 are in the main collection and 4,439 in the research and auxiliary collection.
