L. N. Tolstoy Memorial Museum "Astapovo" (branch of the State Museum of L. N. Tolstoy)
About museum
On November 20, 2010, on the 100th anniversary of L. N. Tolstoy's death, the writer's Memorial Museum "Astapovo" was opened at the station formerly known as Astapovo of the Ryazan–Ural Railway. All the buildings of the historic station and the houses, restored to their original appearance, are located here. The center of the Memorial is the L. N. Tolstoy memorial and literary museum, located in the house of the head of the Astapovo station, I. I. Ozolin. This place became the last for the writer, where he wrote in his diary the phrase: '03.11.1910. Here is my plan. Do what must be done, and let come what may...'. In December 1946 the official opening of the branch of the State Museum of L. N. Tolstoy at Astapovo station took place. Currently the "L. N. Tolstoy Memorial" complex also includes the L. N. Tolstoy cultural and educational center, which was presented to the public on November 20, 2010.
