About museum
In 1894 the building of the Meshchanskaya administration was opened for the Provincial Museum, established by the Voronezh intelligentsia and containing valuable collections, including works by Alexey Koltsov and Ivan Nikitin. In 1924 a house-museum of the poet was opened at the Nikitin estate; it was partially destroyed during the Great Patriotic War. In 1953 it was restored and reopened to visitors, and in 1994 it was reorganized and received a new name — the Voronezh Regional Literary Museum named after I. S. Nikitin. Today the museum includes several subdivisions; there are 13 funds, with a total of 30,000 storage units. The museum's collections include documents, publications, written sources, memorial items, paintings and sculptures. It is also a center for museum pedagogy and actively participates in research projects of many universities.
