Memorial Museum-Apartment of G. M. Krzhizhanovsky
About museum
The memorial apartment of academician G. M. Krzhizhanovsky is located in Zamoskvorechye, in a merchant's house from the first third of the 19th century with original Art Nouveau interiors. The academician lived and worked here from 1913 to 1959. Meetings attended by V. I. Lenin about the GOELRO plan — the project for the electrification of Russia, which the academician helped develop — were held in this house. The exhibition displays original furniture, household items, personal belongings and archival documents of Krzhizhanovsky. A trunk for household items, the academician's outerwear, his briefcase and cane — all convey the atmosphere of a bygone era. Visits to the memorial apartment are conducted via daily guided tours. On the first floor there is an exhibition dedicated to the history of Zamoskvorechye. Here one can feel the spirit of the past and gain unforgettable impressions.
