P. P. Bazhov Memorial House-Museum
About museum
The Memorial House-Museum of P. P. Bazhov is the house where the writer lived with his family and where all the famous tales included in the collection "The Malachite Casket" were created. The museum opened on February 3, 1969; the exhibition presents the authentic furnishings of the study, dining room and children's room, and the personal belongings of P. P. Bazhov and his family members. The permanent exhibition provides an overview of P. P. Bazhov's life and work. The museum offers traditional tours of the house. For the youngest visitors the tour is conducted in a playful format (the journey through the house is preceded by a staging of the tale "Ognevushka-Poskakushka"). Curious guests can also be introduced to the realm of the Mistress of the Copper Mountain (a guided tour with stones). The Bazhov family, as well as their friends and acquaintances, donated a rich archive to the OMPU collections, so exhibitions change throughout the year, and with the traveling exhibition "P. P. Bazhov. Return" museum staff can visit other venues. Thousands of schoolchildren from the Urals remember how Pavel Petrovich used to visit their schools, talking about the Urals, its history, and the people who inhabit this remarkable region.
