In the village of Melnikovo in the Shegarsky District of Tomsk Oblast there is a local history museum; stepping across its threshold you can enter the distant past. Here you can see artifacts from the Early Paleolithic, antiquities, icons, and animal bones. The museum's staff carefully preserve the ancestors' history and tell about famous locals, heroes of war and labor, and cultural figures. One of them is People's Artist of the USSR Innokenty Smoktunovsky. You can also learn the story of the Bogorodskaya miraculous icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, which repeatedly saved local residents from flooding, and learn about its appearance, loss, and rediscovery. In the museum you can come into contact with history and feel yourself part of a bygone era. Here you can feel the spirit of the past.
