The Alexandrovsk Local History Museum was founded in 2005 and is located in the historic part of the town. It occupies a building that is an architectural monument of regional significance, financed and built by merchants between 1862 and 1900. The building has urban-planning and artistic value and is situated in the town center. The museum’s first permanent exhibition is devoted to the history of the district and to families such as the Stroganovs, the Vsevolozhskys, and the Demidovs. Currently there are four permanent exhibitions and one large exhibition hall where shows on various topics are held. The museum has a rich ethnographic collection, as well as an exhibition covering everything from the cave bear to the teddy bear. There is a special program for children to help them become acquainted with the region’s culture and history. The museum invites everyone to learn about Alexandrovsk’s history and culture.
