Arkadak Local History Museum
About museum
In 1971 a public building was opened in the center of Arkadak, in which a year later a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local History was established. On two floors with a total area of about 400 square meters there are expositions and exhibitions whose collections contain more than 8,000 items relating to the history and culture of the town and district. The collections include household items of peasants and the intelligentsia, early 20th-century photographs, documents, coins, paintings by local artists and much more, including ancient exhibits such as a mammoth tusk, a Sarmatian sword, etc. The museum features permanent exhibitions, an art gallery, and also hosts lectures and guided tours that attract visitors. Museum staff organize traveling exhibitions in the district's villages, supplementing them with lectures.
