Arkadak Local History Museum
About museum
In 1971 a public building was opened in the center of Arkadak, and the following year a branch of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local Lore was established there. On two floors totaling about 400 square meters are exhibitions and displays whose collections hold more than 8,000 items related to the history and culture of the town and district. The collections include household items of peasants and the intelligentsia, early 20th-century photographs, documents, coins, paintings by local artists and much more, including ancient artifacts such as a mammoth tusk and a Sarmatian sword. The museum features permanent exhibitions, an art gallery, and also hosts lectures and guided tours that attract visitors. Museum staff organize traveling exhibitions in the district's villages, accompanied by lectures.
