Zelenchuksky District Museum of Local History named after S.F. Varchenko
About museum
In 1995 Sergei Filippovich Varchenko, an enthusiast and collector of antique items, founded a museum in which a large collection of rare and valuable exhibits was assembled in a short period of time. The museum's main exhibition features items from the Great Patriotic War, the October Revolution and other fields of knowledge, as well as a military display recreating the details of the horrific events of those years. The museum also presents Cossack and highlander everyday life with household utensils, looms, agricultural implements and women's handicrafts. The museum organizes thematic exhibitions, lectures and tours for the patriotic education of the younger generation, and regularly holds traveling exhibitions in nearby settlements.
