Orekhovo-Zuyevo City Historical and Local History Museum was opened in 1929 under the name "Tkach" and was located in the building of the spinning-and-twisting factory on Moiseenko Avenue. The museum's original collection included materials on archaeology, geology, the natural history of the native region, and the city's industry. Today the museum's holdings contain more than 40,000 items, making it one of the largest municipal museums in the Moscow Region. The museum houses materials on the revolutionary movement, the textile manufactories of the Morozovs, football, theatre, archaeology dating from the 2nd–3rd millennium BC, icons, clothing, numismatics, Kuznetsov and Dulevo porcelain, TASS "Windows" posters, household items, rare books, a photo archive, and paintings by local 20th-century artists. The museum offers visitors various programs, including interactive and theatrical tours, New Year, Maslenitsa, and folk programs, lectures and classes.
