In January 2013, a Department of Contemporary Art was established at the Tolyatti Art Museum to help popularize contemporary art and acquaint city residents with its main trends. Today the Contemporary Art Department of the Tolyatti Art Museum serves as a venue for exhibiting contemporary art, as well as an educational, project, and communication platform for representatives of the creative industries. Exhibitions, seminars, projects and other events dedicated to contemporary art are held here. The Contemporary Art Department draws attention to current issues in contemporary art and helps visitors learn to understand and respect art. It also provides opportunities to participate in various events and projects devoted to contemporary art.
