State Literary and Memorial Museum-Reserve of N.A. Nekrasov 'Karabikha'
About museum
Karabikha is an architectural monument of Classicism and the only museumified estate of the late 18th–early 20th century in the Yaroslavl Region. It includes residential and farm buildings, two parks — a formal and a landscape park — and a system of ponds with a cascade. In 1862 the estate was acquired by Nikolai Alekseevich Nekrasov, and for ten years Nekrasov spent his summer seasons at Karabikha, during which the poet created the body of his mature works. The estate was nationalized in 1919, and since 1946 the N. A. Nekrasov Museum has been established on its grounds. It presents permanent exhibitions and temporary displays, and hosts the traditional All-Russian Nekrasov Poetry Festival. The museum also organizes academic conferences.
