About museum
The State Darwin Museum was founded by Alexander Fedorovich Kots on October 7, 1907. It became the first and only museum of evolution. Today it is the largest natural history museum in Europe. It features advanced multimedia technologies, animal audio broadcasts, a light-video-music exhibition, video tours, interactive complexes, an information center, an interactive exhibition, an educational laboratory, an insectarium, a digital planetarium, 4D and 5D attractions, and a greenhouse. In front of the museum there is a paleopark with figures of ancient animals that lived on the territory of Russia.

Collection of unusually colored animals - over 800 specimens. Extinct birds - taxidermied specimens of the flightless great auk, passenger pigeons, the various-billed guiy, skeleton of the dodo. Collection of taxidermied exotic birds - birds of paradise and hummingbirds.

The museum is open from 10:00 to 18:00 except on Mondays. The exhibition complex is open on Thursdays from 13:00 to 21:00 (ticket office open until 20:00). The interactive center 'Know Yourself — Know the World' is open until 20:00 on Thursdays.
